Bergamot Peels – 1Kg

Our Orange Bergamot is a citrus typical of southern Italy. In particular of a well-defined area in the province of Reggio Calabria. In fact, this strip of land where bergamot is born is about 100 km long and runs along the Ionian Sea and the Tyrrhenian Sea. Here comes an extremely versatile citrus and unique features in the world that increase its value.
Very similar in shape and colour to a classic lemon, but at the same time very different. The flowering takes place between November and March and the colour when ripe is yellow. Average weight around 200gr.

Culinary information

Bergamot juice, used in cooking to prepare fresh and dry pastries, sweets, candied fruit, ice cream and sorbets. Also used to create soft drinks, cocktails, tea and liqueurs.
It produces anti-stress effects and regulates the well-being of the person in addition to releasing melatonin naturally.
The essence of bergamot: used in the pharmaceutical industry for its antiseptic, antibacterial, antimicrobial, antifungal and antiviral properties.

Preservation:

• Our orange peel is packaged in a air tight sealed bag.
• The peels are in one long string of the whole fruit.
• The peel may contain some pith and fruit flesh.

Disclaimer:

• The orange bergamot season are from November till March the following year.
• We won’t be able to peel outside the harvest season.
• Note: The bergamot has a more citrus flavour when young (green) and more an orange flavour when ripe (yellow-ish).
